Hong Kong Launch of the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011 - 2020

道路安全研究小組五位成員將出席2011年5月13日至16日在重慶舉行的國際交通醫學協會第22屆國際大會, 並發表報告. (www.trafficmedicine.org)
Five members of the CRS will be attending the 22nd World Congress of the International Traffic Medicine Association to be held at Chongqing on 13th to 16th May 2011. Presentations will be given. (www.trafficmedicine.org)

道路安全研究小組對路政署在新的公路項目引入道路安全審計表示歡迎, 期望審計制度能最大程度提高公路安全設計的水平. 小組促請土木工程拓展署也儘快在負責的公路項目引進審計制度.
CRS welcomes Highways Department’s adoption of Road Safety Audit for new highway projects. CRS believes that this will substantially elevate the level of safety design of highways. CRS urges Civil Engineering and Development Department to also adopt RSA in its highway projects in due course.

道路安全研究小組對新西貢公路餘下路段將改建為雙線分隔公路表示關注. 該公路平均坡度超過8%, 總落差達234米, 公路連續下坡而且底部直接引入廻旋處. 公路過去曾經發生最少兩宗嚴重車禍. 小組認為該公路線型本身存在嚴重漏洞,容易引發追撞或重型車制動失效,而分隔公路將加劇問題, 因此必須小心處理. 道路安全研究小組即將向路政署表達專業意見.
CRS is concerned with the proposed dualling of the remaining section of the New Hiram’s Highway. This highway has an average gradient exceeding 8% over a level difference of 234m and the continuous downhill gradient directly terminates at a roundabout. There have been at least two severe crashes in the past on this highway. CRS considers that the road alignment itself has serious deficiencies with potential for rear-front crashes and brake failures for heavy vehicles. Dualling the highway will further increase the risks and therefore warrants utmost attention. CRS will write to Highways Department shortly with professional advice.

道路安全研究小組於2011年3月22日和運輸署會面, 介紹幹線公路引入標誌系統概念, 會上並一同探討改進香港方向標誌牌設計的方法.
CRS met Transport Department on 22 March 2011 to present the concept of directional guidance towards the Strategic Route Network. The methods to improve directional signing in Hong Kong were also explored in the meeting.
